In detail…
Perforating
A row of small holes punched in a sheet of paper so that a part can be torn off easily.
Encapsulation (Laminating)
A plastic pocket is sealed over a sheet of paper protecting it from water and the elements.
Padding
50 or 100 sheets are padded together like Post-it Notes, often with NCR sheets so duplicates can be made of the sheet above - especially handy for forms.
Spot UV
A UV coating is applied to a specific area of a printed piece creating a clear, shiny coating to add depth and contrast.
Lamination
A fine film is coated over a piece of paper or card to apply an effect: matt, gloss or soft-touch (velvet). In some cases it can also add to the durability, helping to avoid marking and scratching of printed artwork.
Foiling
Foiling uses heat, pressure and metallic film to create shiny details over specific areas of a printed piece.
